 Topic: Nektar - Tab In The Ocean

I went to a record fair yesterday and finally found a vinyl copy of Tab In The Ocean.
It was priced at £10 and using the official Record Collector magazine grading system I would grade it as below:
Sleeve and inner = Fair to Good
Vinyl = Good (just!)
I asked the seller how much less than £10 would he take for it due to the condition. He said that usually he doesnt let Nektar albums go for less than £15 and has never seen one for less than £15 anywhere.
Bearing in mind, I found their Remember The Future album with another seller at the fair and in better condition for £12!
What does everyone think to this £15 value? I would prefer the vinyl version but I can buy a brand new sealed cd version for £12-ish online.

My Record Collector guide has it at £25 in mint condition, but that's the 2004 issue. I guess £10 doesn't sound too bad.

I am still on the hunt for a vinyl version of A Tab In The Ocean! There seems to be about 3 different issues around, on different record labels. Does anyone have any details of what record label was issued where please?

I got the CD for (I think) £9.99 on Amazon and got a most unusual bonus - the complete 1972 album remastered and remixed in 1976 - a classic case of "similar but different".
Also a really good booklet, perfect condition (ie new) and... I know it's not vinyl, but a better investment, I think

I have finally got my vinyl copy of Tab In The Ocean. 
On lovely heavy vinyl (UAG 29499 edition) and a bargain for less than £10.00 delivered!
Listening to it on vinyl is so much better than when I have listened to tracks from it online. That's where vinyl is superior over a cd as vinyl has got atmosphere. Yes it does look old but it is original and it is over 30 years old with a few surface marks but plays perfect.
To me it is an album that hits me just like Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon did.

 Last week i boought the cd with the two versions of this album (original from 1975 plus the remix from 1976) for USD $11.00. Not new but in good condition.

Surprisingly enough, it was released in vinyl in Brazil, back in 74, and the price is around $10 to $15, but in the past it used to be cheaper. By the way, I love the poster-like cover.

I don't mean to be rude, but isn't it the quality of the music that counts? Tab in the Ocean is a great album from an underrated band.

I have the first seven Nektar LPs on vinyl and I also consider them to be a very underrated band. I would have to go with A Tab In The Ocean as number one with Recycled coming in second.

Agreed. Recycled is a subtle album and is well worth dusting off. Anything with Roye Albrighton is worth listening to anyway. Quantum Jump's Lone Ranger is a great track.

Last week I bought an old digitally remastered version of this album on CD. I noticed that in the first track I hear a lot of scratches. This effect repeated sometimes in next track. This is Bellephon release, probably from late 80s or the beginning of 90s. It is so weird for me, because German releases have very good quality. I don't think that is broken disc. Have the vinyl releases the same problem? Is it normal?

There are some CDs out there that were obviously made off playing an LP. My first Marscape has obvious needle noise at the quiet parts. I've got the Bellaphon CD version of that and never noticed it. Also have an LP version of the album.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...
