Topic: Pirate Prog Posted: May 31 2007 at 21:11 |
With the current Pirate mania going on I decided to try a pirate theme for this weeks episode of Soundscape. So does anyone out there know of any good pirate prog? ELP's Pirates is an easy one so don't worry there. If not pirates it can be about any sort of nautically oriented song. Sailing, Treasure, Scoundrels and Scalliwags, Rum Running, Smuggling etc all fit pretty easily into the Pirate theme. As always thanks for your input I really appreciate it.

High Tide's 'Sea Shanties', though it's more like Jim Morrison and a band of drunken criminals than anything in a traditional pirate vein...

Some Decemberists stuff, most notably "The Mariner's Revenge Song" off Picaresque. A lot of this stuff here is just nautical though, not really pirate I believe.

you're not familiar with the Prognautical movement? It was huge for several days in 1971.

Kandu Vs Corky (Horrorca) - Toby Driver (most doom/epic/colossally scary song about the sea ever, it's about whales, but you can pretend you're a pirate though !)
Vrresto - Ruins (no one is really sure what this song is about, but it has a couple Total Pirate moments in it. such a good song)
sorry i was of no help >_<
