 Topic: Locomotiv GT ... would you recommend?

I have just seen the band Locomotiv GT from Hungary listed as prog band on another website. They are not listed on PA.
Do know this band and what style of music they play?
Would you recommend spending your hard earned cash on any of their CD's?

I own their albums.
Locomotiv GT's music is so to say progressive hard rock / symphonic rock in the early days. Unfortunately I don't know later albums. They are not always close to Locomotiv GT, if you like Piramis, Novela, etc, you may be able to enjoy the group. East, Rumblin' Orchestra, After Crying, Fugato are entirely different type Hungarian bands.

The two albums in question: Mindenki Maskepp Csinalja - Zene (1977) & Mindenki (1978) ... any particular thoughts on these albums?

Better start with OMEGA, the band number 1 in Hungary, they are more progressive and have much better melodies (IMHO).
When Gabor Presser left Omega in 1971, he found Locomotiv GT. LGT style is closer to bands like Rolling Stones than to prog. Though LGT are Hungarian rock legends too.

Hello,
first of all, the photo in the band's profile is incorrect. It shows Omega in the early seventies, after Presser and Laux left the band. :)
Locomotiv GT is very different of any other hungarian rock groups. Presser is a great composer, and we can say, that he is the musical motor of the group, alone. As a composer he thinks in a progressive way, and he is one of the greatest keyboard-expert in Hungary at least, but I think there's something that doesn't work in the LGT-songs. In my opinion, most of their albums and songs is boring.
The only LP I like is Bummm (1973), but that's nothing special, just hard rock.

Syrius, Barbaro and Kolinda are/were far more interesting bands from Hungary than LGT and Omega, IMHO.
There is a Syrius thread somewhere among the appreciations, it wasn't too popular.
