Fantastic band, fantastic musicians! This jazzy krautband were true pioneers of world music. Check them out if you don't already know them.
I've only listed the ones I got/know. Six first are classics. Surfin' and Apo-Calypso aren't all that great but not as bad as its reputation either. Bad Heads & Bad Cats. La Blama Sparozzi and Zack Glück are seriously underappreciated and Embryo's Reise is a genuine masterpiece imo.

I went with Steig Aus over We Keep On although Rocksession is great too. Amazing band by the way.
I just recently got Zack Gluck and Ni Hau but haven't spent any time with them yet.

That's where my own vote went. If I were to make a top five it would look something like this: We Keep On Rocksession Embryo's Reise Opal Steig Aus

I really enjoy "Surfin" too. It has a similar smooth jazz vibe to those late 70s Kraan albums I love.

I went with Rocksession but instantly regret not voting for Father, Son & Holy Ghosts. That album has got my alltime fave Embryo tune in 'King Insano'.
Oh well I could've gone for Steig Aus or We Keep On just as easily. One thing: any of you guys ever heard their live albums? Just like some other Krautrock bands, they too have had a few shows from the 70s released. There is one from Bremen I am most interested in. |

I only know the one included in the poll that was released in 1977. Its alright. I can't say its particulary interesting. The same kinda fusion mode as their late 70's releases but not as good as the best stuff on those studioalbums. That Bremen Live album looks more like your thing.

Uhhh I love that Ni Hau album John! It's a different beast though, but yeah I really dig that one. I guess I am just trying to tell you that it may be a slow burner, especially if one is approaching it from the more psychedelic Embryo ways of yore ![]() |

Thanks David, is it more like Embryo's Reise from 1979 which is very much a middle eastern sounding album throughout? Oh, actually I paused my post here to check Ni Hau out on the site here and saw a very informative review of it by you mister. Heck it sounds like something I couldn't not like(Chinese fusion?). It will be interesting if nothing else.

One vote each for Surfin' & Apo-Calypso? I probably shouldn't be so surprised as I quite like them both myself, but reputationwise its as if The Missing Piece and Giant For a Day got votes for best GG-album while a couple of their classics still had none.
