two different acts of metal from France, the prolific pro-vegan metal act Gojira and Alcest ;D whom is new to me, but i think it is interesting to set them up against eachother, two sludgy, technical and by their own way progressive band,

Gojira. Their death-metal roots have more appeal for me, they sound more... "solid".

I love both, but I've spent a lot more time listening to Alcest and I assume that's because I like them more.

Gojira, though I wouldnt call them prolific as they havnt released anything since 2008.

None of these bands are sludgy. Gojira is great. Quite unique.
Alcest never did much for me, not even their non-black metal album they did at some point. I do understand their appeal, but I guess they're not my thing...
