Topic: Sleepytime Gorilla Museum Vs. Mr. Bungle Posted: May 23 2010 at 04:32 |
I have just listened to one Mr. Bungle album, and never listened to SGM, so I won't vote.

I love Sleepytime Gorilla Museum as much as the next guy, but they've never even come close to Bungles California. That album is so much fun!

they require the right mood, but SGM definitely takes it. i'd put idiot flesh and fantomas ahead of bungle, too, i think...

Mr Bungle are a very talented band which succesfully combine all musical genres. But Sleepytime Gorilla Museum goes one step further and makes music never heard before... plus I like them more jejeje

Disco Volante is better than anything Sleepytime has done in my opinion.

These are both two bands that I've heard a lot of good about, but never really checked out. I guess I have to now.

SGM gets my vote, although I think they owe more than a little to Mr Bungle and other Patton projects. Both excellent bands, but SGM seem more focussed somehow - Mr Bungle's albums were rather hit and miss affairs, although when they were good they were about as good as it gets.

Mr. Bungle.
As much as SGM can tickle my fancy (and they do), it's rare I enjoy their work as much as Bungles. MB also were a pretty eye opening band for me, so perhaps I'm a little biased.

I don't like any SGM.
I love Mr. Bungle's debut, but I don't really like their other two albums.
I voted for Bungle, even if it's for their first album alone.

I never liked Mr Bungle that much, and while SGM owes a debt to them, I've never thought they were actually very progressive (just restless) and I find the genre shifts more annoying than anything else.

Bungle wrote the book. SGM made a screenplay of it.
But it was a book worth putting on film.

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.
