 Topic: Best Queensrÿche album

There has been a band from Seatle, Washington since early 80s, a band, that was certainly one of the fathers of progressive metal and has managed to remain one of the most popular bands in genre to date, producing 10 studio albums.
I voted for Promised Land, because this one is the most progressive of all IMHO. YOU? (write also why have you chosen the one)

I voted Promised Land. It shows a band that isn´t afraid of experimenting. I love the last song on this album called "Someone Else", Geof Tate is amazing on that track.
Mindcrime and The Warning are also good albums.

Is this a trick question? I find OMCI far outshines their other releases. Rage For Order is my personal favorite though, because it brings back a lot of memories of life as a younger man. I got it when it came out. Those were some good times.

Empire. I used to like Operation: Mindcrime but it seems all of the what would be good songs are ruined by something. and the lyrics are eh.

Promised Land is my favourite, but i also like a lot Operation I and Empire. PL is their most progressive effort, while OM Is more straight metal with prog elements and Empire is where they started to show a more prog-metal oriented music. All of them pretty good

Mindcrime, hands down. But unlike some of you who hold that everything else sucks, I disagree. Everything else (for the most part) is also quite good, just not on the same level as O:M.

OMI, though I love every one but Hear in the Now and Q2K. I just got Mindcrime at the Moore. If you don;'t like OMII, get this, it sounds do much better live. I saw them here in Atlanta and it completely reversed my opinion of the album.

i voted for Rage for Order
i'm not sure if its their BEST album... but its my favorite...
Killing Words, Surgical Strike, Neue Regel, London & Screaming in Digital are my favorite songs off of that album.
although the production may sound a lil outdated now`, but this album is just so intelligent, well written & well played.... & the lyrics are out of this world...

Operation Mindcrime.
It always amazes me that people think QR is prog metal(they aren't,IMHO),but the band they ripped off when they first came out,Iron Maiden...aren't.

In response to the Progtologist, Queensryche weren't prog on the EP, but Maiden weren't prog when they had Paul either. NOTB brought in prog elements; so did the Warning.
Although both bands are much closer to traditonal heavy metal than to prog metal, both have enough progressive elements and influence on modern prog metal that their inclusion is a no-brainer.

Operation Mindcrime, no question. Their other albums I had (Warning, Rage For Order, Empire, Tribe) are just ordinary to my ears. Haven't heard 'Promised Land' though...

I totally agree with you,but was always puzzled at QR's music being considered prog metal.It's more "prog-related" if you ask me.
