Topic: Ys vs Zarathustra Posted: January 25 2006 at 17:55 |
Both are outstanding masterpieces from the seventies!
Both are reviewed by a similar number of prog lovers (over 50 reviews) and have similar ratings (over 4.20).
Both are great favourite of mine.
Which one do you think deserve to be more acclaimed here on progarchives?
The darker (Ys) or the harder (Zarathustra)?
I'd go within Zarathustra, what is your opinion?

oh my.... now this is tough. 2 of my 3 absolute Italian favs.
dark or hard.... damn.
Edge probably to YS, (for those INCREDIBLE 4+ minutes of Introduzione)
which in turn is edged only by Per Un Amico for favorite Italian prog
album. Great question, two fabulous albums.

My vote shall be biased since I spent a couple of days recently hearing "Zarathustra" to make a review... and there's more than 20 years I don't hear "Ys" integrally - even so I remember almost clearly the songs (they're fine!). Both are great, spettacolare!

maybe we should translate Zarathustra's lyrics into German - it would sound darker, imagine "Vivat Ubermensch"!!

Grazie, Andrea!
I'm going to Paris in two weeks from now and while my wife wants to see Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, all I want are Balletto's CDs and mainly Murple!!!
BTW, I've ordered here in Brazil the 2 most recent works from Consorzio Acqua Potabile and one from La Torre Dell'Alchimista - hoping to receive them as soon I get back home.

Albeit less incendiary than "Ys", the "Zarathustra" album is more captivating and accomplished regarding the compositions and arrangements... IMHO.
Regards.

Perhaps "Wiwat Nadczłowiek" (well, I should write it phonetically, as the Vatican clerks do for the Pope: "Vivat Nadtschlovieck").
Italian symphonic progressive rock is not very popular in Poland, but it would sound nice, if singers Lizard or Abraxas did some covers of Museo Rosenbach.
