This poll contains six of my favourite albums from each of these years. Three albums from each year (the A to C choices) are included in Prog Archives' database and three albums (the D to F choices) are not included in PA.

This poll is multiple choice. Please try to vote for one album from the A to C selection for each year and one album from the D to F selection for each year. Please lists your choices in a post. If you can't vote for that many, that's fine, but only one vote per year from each A to C section and only one vote per year from each D to F section.

For instance, from 1967, vote for The Piper at the Gates of Dawn OR The Doors OR Are You Experienced AND Velvet Underground & Nico OR Songs of Leonard Cohen OR Forever Changes, and do that for each year. One in PA and one out of PA if you can (if you like and know one in PA and out of PA for the years).

67 A: Pink Floyd - The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
67 B: The Doors - The Doors
67 C: The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced
67 D: The Velvet Underground & Nico - self-titled
67 E: Leonard Cohen - Songs of Leonard Cohen
67 F: Love - Forever Changes

68 A: The United States of America - The United States of America
68 B: Family - Music in a Doll's House
68 C: David Axelrod - Song of Innocence
68 D: Nico - The Marble Index
68 E: Dr. John, the Night Tripper - Gris-Gris
68 F: The Electric Prunes - Mass in F Minor

69 A: East of Eden - Mercator Projected
69 B: The Soft Machine - Volume Two
69 C: Can - Monster Movie
69 D: Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left
69 E: Quicksilver Messenger Service - Happy Trails
69 F: The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground

70 A: Magma - Kobaïa
70 B: The Soft Machine - Third
70 C: Van der Graaf Generator - The Least We Can Do Is Wave to Each Other
70 D: Exuma - Exuma
70 E: Herbie Mann - Stone Flute
70 F: Nico - Desertshore

Logan,

I have the Doors and Hendrix from 67. I really like both those albums. The rest I'm not that keen on.

Thanks, Jeff and please call me Greg (I would change to my real name if I could -- Logan is a Logan's Run reference). My tastes tend to be not very mainstream for the Prog community I find (not popular amongst Proggers generally). I would like to do a second round with different albums I like from the years as well after I get to 2025.

I initially started making this topic differently some while back with the top ranked album at PA per year, a favourite choice of mine in PA for that year, and one album not in PA from the same year.

By the way, in case it was not clear in the opening post, I would ask people to not vote for more that one option from the A to C choices of any given year, and no more than one additionally from the D to F list of any given year.

67: The Doors (A-C); Forever Changes (D-F)
68: Song of Innocence (A-C); none from D-F (second choice would've been The United States of America)
69: Volume Two (A-C); Five Leaves Left (D-F)
70: Third (A-C); Stone Flute (D-F)

Great format, Greg!

Thanks all, and especially to Drew for your kind words. And I love the format of your post; super-duper easy to follow.

This went through a few iterations until I came up with something with which I was quite happy. I was thinking of doing the following at first for the first poll (did something similar before) with each poll option having two albums per year. The first album in each poll option being the top ranked album in PA's charts for its year and the second in each poll option being a favourite of mine from the same year that is not included in PA. And then one would vote for whatever duos one likes, if any...

67: The Moody Blues - Days of Future Passed & The Velvet Underground & Nico - self-titled
68: The Mothers of Invention - We're Only in It for the Money & Nico - The Marble Index
69: King Crimson - ItCotCK & Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left
70: VdGG - H to He... & Exuma - Exuma
71: Yes - Fragile & Serge Gainsbourg - Histoire de Melody Nelson
72: Yes - Close to the Edge & Stringtronics - Mindbender
73: Genesis - Selling England by the Pound & Mandingo - The Primeval Rhythm of Life
74: King Crimson - Red & Karl Heinz Schäfer - Les gants blancs du diable
etc. (for 25 options)

Strangely fun to put such things together.

I led to some combinations I love, like, 1997: Art Zoyd - Häxan & Portishead - Portishead. And some that don't work so well for me like 1999: Dream Theater - Metropolis Part 2 - Scenes from a Memory & The Necks - Hanging Gardens. That was kind of the idea there.
