This poll might already be too late as it is cold and snowy here....but at any rate on the calendar, winter is coming!
I have selected 25 songs from my collection that reference the word "Winter". Some bands and songs are likely known...others are not. Included is a YouTube video with all of the songs for those that have the time and inclination to give them a listen. Maybe you live in Buffalo and are snowed in by over 2 feet of snow. The latest in my theme polls which have likely been missed by none and anticipated by even less than that. Choose your 3 favorites and let us know which songs you liked....didn't like...discovered or since it is the PA way, which other "Winter" songs that I should have included. I couldn't find the following 4 songs on YouTube, so here are some links to hear these songs: Led Bib - Winter Manning - Winter Resistor - Winter Quantum Fantay - Winter Shades Edited by rushfan4 - December 03 2024 at 14:32 |

I briefly went through the playlist instead of listening carefully to most of the tracks. Same with the bandcamp, some I know.
These I knew, but my first two choices will be: Led Bib - Winter Caravan - Winter Wine And for my third, it will be Quantum Fantay' Wintershades. This was a nice surprise and I gave it a proper listen. :) To mention a favourite of mine (one of my favourite songs regardless of season or subject matter): Comus - Winter Is a Coloured Bird |

Winter hit us on Sunday, December 1st. It's white everywhere. Winter's aren't even close to being as severe as they used to be here in central Ontario. Not nearly as cold and not nearly the snow. And Scott your not that far south of me in Michigan, I'm sure you have similar winters.
That Nice Beaver track takes the cake for me. I mean it's the perfect song for winter lyrically. That line "I'd sell my soul for summer" was not far from the truth back in the day when winters seemed like they would never end.. |

Winters here have definitely been milder than back in the day. I might have had to shovel the snow two or three times all of last year. (Not that I am complaining). We actually seem to be in a sheltered alley as almost every time a big snowstorm comes through it seems to pass us to the South...which I find quite strange. ***knocks on wood*** so as to not have a Buffalo winter this year.

The big news around here was Gravenhurst a small town a couple of hours north of here got close to five feet of snow this past Saturday. Declared a state of emergency and the main highway north was closed for 2 days.
Landberk's Indian Summer is a great winter album. May 1st is a song that talks about that yearning for winter to be over. Indian summer was something that happened here every January. Some called it the January Thaw. Just this bizarre break from the cold temps for brief time. That hasn't happened in a such a long time. Decades? This world is changing. |

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.
