A seminal album for me--perhaps THE album that got me into album rock (or "prog"), there really is no bad song on this album for me--and I could've gone with any of them--but I gotta go with the opener, "The Wizard."

Though the tracks are listed separately, I had to merge "Paradise" and "The Spell" as one--as we all know they are.

And, how many of you old-timers proudly displayed the Roger Dean poster of this album cover on your bedroom walls?

All My Life is kind of annoying though. Uriah Heep always had the ability to create great songs and terrible songs at once.

Another example is Seven Stars.

Such an important album to me.  My favorite song may be "WHY", the song tacked on to recent CD additions.  Could be my favorite BASS song of all time.

Bass player extraordinaire- "Gary Thain"-electrocuted in Dallas...September 15, 1974...Died 8-8-75 of overdose...Unsung member of the 27 club.

  Every few months I play a breath-taking "air bass" to WHY.

Great album with lots of classic tracks - but opening up with 'The Wizard' was rather special! Now that's a feel-good prog moment!

Hi,

This was one of the bands that I bought the album by the cover (Roger Dean's), and was really disappointed all around. To me, this was just plain rock music, trying to sound artsy now and then, but all in all, not a great band, but one that you can play on a nice (and open!!!) Friday/Saturday night show on a good FM station that is not mechanized and needs to die!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Saw UH open for Tull in '78 and while they put on a great show, I've always been disappointed by their albums.  Bought a handful including this one with high hopes, but didn't keep any besides the greatest hits album.  Absolutely love the songs "Bird of Prey" and "Gypsy", but nothing else really grabbed me so no vote here.

^ Yeah......many music critics over the years picked on the Heep and said they weren't that good...there was a review in the old Rolling Stone guide that called them a 'mutant version of Deep Purple'.

My family paid little attention to my music, and hardly ever look at my vinyl record collection, at least not with that much attention. Growing in Central America was hard for a prog-head during the 70's, no internet and very little exposure to that kind of music, and it was quite difficult to get records of any info on latest releases. I was fortunate to know a lady who worked in the biggest record store in town, so I was able to know about newest releases, and special order them.

I've always really enjoyed "circle of hands" but I voted for "the wizard." I should pull this out again. It's a great album but I haven't played it in a while. Also, it's one of relatively few albums I have on both cd and vinyl. My vinyl copy is actually signed by Roger Dean(as is my vinyl copy of relayer) so I won't be parting with it anytime soon. ;)

As a side note, I could have sworn I heard "traveller in time" in some movie but I can not for the life of me figure out where. If anyone knows please do tell.
