This band brings Swans, black midi, Black Country, New Road and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, to my mind amongst other things.

Hesse Kassel, a young band from Santiago, has released one studio album on March 1, 2025 and it my number one of the year at this time. In may, 2024, it also released the Tocata Cotota 19.8.2023 live EP.

I have not found much info for bio yet, other than info in this post something like:

Hailing from Santiago, Chile and formed in November of 2022, Hesse Kassel performs experimental art rock, Post-Rock, Avant Prog music. Its members, as of March 2025, consist of Renatto Olivares on guitar, saxophone, and vocals, Luca Cosignani on guitar and vocals, Mauricio Rosas on guitar, Matthew Hopper on bass, Eduardo Padilla on drums and Joaquín González on keyboards and backing vocals. It has released one studio album, Il Brea, in March 20225 and one EP length live in 2024. The music has been compared to Swans, Black Country, New Road, black midi, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Maruja, and Slint.

I would like to add this band if accepted. Thanks.

While I searched the forum, if I missed this mention I apologise. The search function is consistently freezing for me now.

Nothing came up in my search for this band either, Greg, and I usually manage to get the advanced search to work pretty well.

The artist was added to Awesome Prog by a RYM Bot 15 days ago: https://awesomeprog.com/artists/25527, and the tags there are Exp, Prog, Punk, with a rating of 'Supreme'. There are already 33 reviews and almost 2,000 ratings on RYM, and the album has only been out a fortnight!

Thanks, David.  This forum is very laggy/slow for me and I often am losing my internet connection when on it.  Usually the advanced search works well for me.  The album certainly has done well at rateyourmusic, so well I thought maybe Anthony Fantano had endorsed it but I don't see it mentioned at the Needledrop.

Post/Math will have a look at them first. I also have trouble with our search function. Thanks for the suggestion.

^ Thanks Gordy. At some time various features like the search work great and at other times pages won't load for me, stall...

Wow...I've just listened to the whole album. It's excellent
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

One of the few 2025 albums I have heard. I like it, and they do fit here. The band name looks very strange to a German, as Kassel is the capital of the German Land (state/region) of Hessen (a Hesse is a person from there). I wonder whether the name has something to do with this, but I don't find any connection.

Edit: Not true, Kassel is a city in Hessen but not the capital.

I'm not German but noticed that too.  Doubt it's coincidence.  And maybe they are fans of the Brothers Grimm and Hermann Hesse, and/or some Krautrock reference.

^ Great album, and very happy to say that I have added Hesse Kassel to Post Rock/ Math Rock. There is little info unfortunately. Thank you very much to the Post Rock / Math Rock team for taking the time to evaluate the music and for approving it. This was one I was excited about the prospect of adding, but then I only suggest acts that excite me. A reason why I like to add them myself usually, and I don't often suggest bands/ artists.
