Woooah, Canadian archival rock attack from 1972/73: heavy distorted guitar, hammonds/piano, flute and a lot of saxophone. + short tracks with vocals (like "Scorpio lady" and "Can You Tell Me") which are good hits (and also contain great fragments - like middle section in "Inferno"). Best tracks are for example: "For Those Who Listen" (what a classical album beginnning) "Reminiscence" and long killer "Four To Open The Door". "Can You Tell Me" has vocals a la Caravan (a little) Very diverse album - there's a lot to explore in every track. I think it's good addition to recently released archival Canadian recordings (ExCubus, Maelstrom) (but this albums is less polished and sounds more British) Reminiscence 2017 full album playlist in reverse order : or 1 For Those Who Listen (3:43) 2 Inferno (3:52) 3 Reminiscence 4:37) 4 Can You Tell Me (3:06) 5 Stopwatch (5:48) 6 She Made Me All Alone (3:31) 7 Philosophy (2:50) 8 Scorpio Lady (2:35) 9 Scat (3:22) 10 Four To Open The Door (9:34) Ralph Smith / bass Marty Morin / drums, backing vocals Neil Chapman / guitar Gord McKinnon / keyboards, harmonica Craig Carmody / saxophone, flute Mike Langford / vocals During their brief existence, Heat Exchange from Canada recorded an album of which only four tracks were released as 45s for the Yorkville. This is the complete Heat Exchange studio recordings (1972–73), including their three 45s plus the previously unreleased recordings they did for their never released LP in 1972.

bio
![]() HEAT EXCHANGE was Canadian prog band, originated from Toronto. During their brief activity they released three singles in period 1972-73. Members were: Ralph SMITH on bass, Marty MORIN on drums and backing vocals, Neil CHAPMAN on guitar, Gord MCKINNON on keyboards and harmonica, saxophonist and flutist Craig CARMODY and vocalist Mike LANGFORD. In 2017 compilation album containing all band's singles and unreleased tracks from planned 1972 album was released. Mentioned opus titled "Reminiscence" shows band as very eclectic group with bunch of various influences from jazz, soul, folk, psychedelic rock and classical music with sharp edge. Despite more British sound, their work can be good addition to other released after years material by Canadian bands like MAELSTROM and EXCUBUS and is recommended for enthusiasts of 70s music not only from this country. some of the muso's names ring a bell in later bands (Goddo, Fludd, Wireless, Truck) Well
these guys certainly belong here for sure after listening to their
bandcamp. Surely not in Prog-relatred, though, but a full-blown prog
subgenre ![]() |
