4 stars I have no idea why this Canadian band doesn't get more attention from the prog metal fans. I loved their previous album, with the punny gamer-prog title "13/8bit." They're crazily skilled and their material is a lot of fun, mixing in gamer music with sci-fi epic tunes, absurd rhythmic complexities and zippy electronic enhancements. This time, they have a beefier, more aggressive singer. Expect lyrics like "Logic, function," and "surge of electrons." They have an absolutely superhuman drummer, Edgar Aaron, who unwinds polyrhythmic and polymetric schemes like they're no big deal. The level of drumming these days makes me think maybe the human race really is evolving. Really good album. I'm sad it took me a few years to get around to checking it out.
Thanks to rdtprog for the artist addition.
