Sterling biography
US band STERLING emerged from the Chicago noise rock scene sometim around the millennium, and the original formation consisting of Tony Lazzara (drums, synths), Eric Chaleff (guitars, samples), Jim Delfosse (guitars, synths, piano) and Dan Spack (bass) made their debut back in 2001 with the CD "Murderer", released on the soon to be defunct label Swey Records. When they returned to the studio two years later, it was without a regular bass player. Al Burian and Robert Lowe had contributed to the band's most recent live performances at this stage, while Craig Ackerman contributed to the studio sessions for their 2003 album "Sterling" which was released through the File 13 label.

When Sterling hit the studio again in 2006, Tony Lazzara and Eric Chaleff were the sole remaining original members, now joined by Al Burian (bass) and Andy Lansangan (piano). The end result of the studio sessions was the band's third album "Cursed", released in 2007 by the File 13 label. This also tuned out to be their final one, as Sterling officially disbanded in 2008.

Sterling's brand of post rock is one flavored with details from avantgarde rock and metal, with something of a focus on the use of low end techniques to create dark and powerful sonic walls.
