Beings biography
Beings is a musical collective founded by a disparate array of four American and Australian musicians who gathered in New York City in the summer of 2022, specifically the free-improvising saxophonist and vocalist Zoh Amba, Americana guitarist Steve Gunn, Middle-Eastern jazz bassist/keyboardist and Secret Chiefs 3 member Shahzad Ismaily, and experimental indie folk drummer Jim White. The combined musical backgrounds of this diverse ensemble coalesce into a unique experimental style of rock music that evokes the spiritually minded and freewheeling nature of the individual musicians, and contains elements of free folk, free jazz, post-rock and avant-prog.
Beings's debut album There Is A Garden was recorded in 2024 and released that same year by the Philadelphia label No Quarter.
