Zhrine biography
ZHRINE is an Icelandic blackened death metal band from Reykjavík, active in its current form since 2014 but beginning life as GONE POSTAL in 2007. The lineup at their reformation featured guitarist/vocalist Þorbjörn STEINGRIMSSON, standing fretless bassist Ævar Örn SIGURðSSON, guitarist/vocalist Nökkvi GYLFASON and drummer Stefán STEFáNSSON.

For their first seven years, GONE POSTAL played a straightforward and brutal style of death metal. Similar to fellow Icelandic groups MISþYRMING, SINMARA and SVARTIDAUðI, GONE POSTAL began exploring a more dissonant, DEATHSPELL OMEGA-inspired avenue, prompting the band to change their name to SHRINE in 2014 and then to ZHRINE a year later. Upon signing to Season of Mist, ZHRINE issued their debut LP "Unortheta" in 2016, and Tumi Snær GISLASON would replace STEFáNSSON on drums the same year.

Playing a hybrid of black, death and atmospheric sludge metal, ZHRINE can be described as a blackened version of ULCERATE, and will inspire listeners of SVARTIDAUðI, KARMACIPHER, AD NAUSEAM, ISIS, SETENTIA and CEREMONY OF SILENCE.
