3 stars This album's pretty good - not great, but not dreadful at all (as some people seem to label it). It's not at all like Santana's early jazz-inspired recordings - Marathon is basically a collection of funky pop songs. There's not a whole heap of Latin influence either - which is quite disappointing, but that's not to say that the songs on this album are bad. Most of them are catchy and would be enjoyable for a fan of early 80s pop, but if you're looking for jazzy Santana with long solos, then avoid this album. One track I found quite annoying in particular is "Love". For me, this is a 2.5/5 album; it's alright. So I guess that's rounded up to three.
