5 stars Alright!! This is my favorite of all the Floyd releases. It not only follows Dark Side but excels higher in the musicianship, lyrics and overall feel of the album. Shine On Part 1 is my favorite song on the album because I love the build up that creates such an atmosphere for the song to explode which is what it does. David Glimour's 4 not sequence is so memorable I love it. Then after the sax solo we go right into Welcome to the Machine which is a song about the troubles of the music business that the Floyd were just starting to feel at the time and is a great song for Rick to take over on keyboards and effects which he does. Then with Side 2 we kick off with Have a Cigar which is very similar to Money in the style of progressive blues if you will and also talks about the music business negatives with Roy Harper on lead vocals as a record executive with memorable lines as "Which one's Pink?". Then after the solo gets sucked into a radio then we switch to Wish You Were Here an amazing beautiful ballad about Syd and how they wish he was there to taste the success because he deserved it as much as the others did. After the white noise we cap off the album with the second part of Shine On which is pretty good as well. Overall, this is my favorite PF album because the sound is better the production is top notch and it may be a little slow but it takes every note into account. 5 Stars. Highlights: Shine On (You Crazy Diamond) Part 1 and 2, Welcome to the Machine, Have a Cigar and Wish You Were Here
