AlohaAwesome
5 stars I have listened to Transatlantic's Kaleidoscope a few times now, as my order arrived early, and it is safe to say that this band has "done it again". The musicianship, production, and creativity on this album are all top-notch. The memorable melodies and 70's prog influence that were present on Transatlantic's other albums are here as well.

Kaleidoscope is Transatlantic at its heaviest, and most complex musically. Prog metal fans who haven't listened to Transatlantic will want to start with this album because there are moments that sound Dream Theater-esque. Just listen towards the middle of "Black as the Sky" - there are some "Dark Eternal Night" style time signature shifts that probably came from Portnoy.

I'm not sure if I will like Kaleidoscope as much as "The Whirlwind" (which I regard as a masterpiece) but time will tell. Nevertheless, Kaleidoscope is a "Shining" album that no prog fan should ignore.
