4 stars This would be the poor man's option if you have too few $?„£. Actually, I think this is the only way nowadays to get those albums. I have not seen for a while those albums separately on CD. Anyway, this 2 on 1 gives you the total Present Oeuvre in the 80's and this is no new wave or neo-prog. If you are feeling suicidal , avoid this one unless you are determined to end your days (then by all means make this the last album you buy).

Present was at first an offshoot project of Univers Zero but here Roger Trigaux was to be the leader (Daniel Denis and Alain Rochette and Genet are also U Z members) , to allow the members to indulge in electric instruments (UZ was mostly acoustic back then). Promenade Au Fond d'Un Canal was simply mind-boggling for the times (and still is IMO) as a 20 min long tracks full of gloomy ambiances.

I saw them at Nearfest in 2004, and while I enjoyed their performance, I decided to just get their first album, which I have never really gotten into all that much (also, at Nearfest I heard several songs from various albums of theirs).
