Dominik Müller biography
Born in Germany, 1987, DOMINIK MÜLLER began his fascination with progressive rock early. His father loved the genre and introduced him to many acts including Genesis, Jethro Tull and ELP. As his interest in music grew, he began to teach himself piano, drums, guitar and bass. His focus is primarily on classic keyboard-based prog: "I have always tried to make my music sound as if it had actually been produced in the 70s."

He recorded his first album, 'Vagabond's View', in 2003 on a four-track tape recorder and offered well-arranged, cleanly-recorded instrumental work in the vein of Bo Hansson and Keith Emerson, playing all the instruments and performing the vocals. Recording digitally for his second effort 'Levellym' in 2004, MÜLLER mixed the album on computer. Unsatisfied with digital recording, he switched back to analog in 2006 for his third work 'Sturmweh', a somewhat more modern sounding piece of progressive rock with furthered layers of instrumentation and a move toward ambient soundscapes that evoke mid-period Pink Floyd with touches of Gentle Giant-style counterpoint. "Most of my music appears while I play the keyboards", MUELLER reflected, "Other melodies 'are just there' and have to be recorded quickly - because I have never learned to write/read music properly. Then I try to compound and advance the different riffs." He also played keys for the band Skybirth which broke-up in 2005.

With a genuine love for the music of his progressive forebears and a passion for complex, neo-classical arrangements, DOMINIK MÜLLER carries the torch for a new generation of composers and is a bright star in the European retro-prog scene.
