What the forensic methods of sketching just from description has revealed first and foremost is that going just by the text, quite a few of the characters look nothing like countless illustrators not to mention Hollywood would have us believe. Sam Spade in particular looks less like Humphrey Bogart than a young Rutger Hauer, and Dracula nothing like Bela Lugosi or Christopher Lee.
