Kimura is a French band based in Liancourt, Oise.

Bio:

Kimura as it is today was the result of an encounter between Caroline Varlet, aka Ysleenn, (vocals, lyrics) and Ludovic Roux, aka Deweak, (composition and keyboards, vocals, lyrics). After starting out as a group in 2007 playing a repertoire of covers of heavy and neo-progressive bands like Porcupine Tree and Marillion, Kimura was re-formed as a duo in 2008 after several band member departures, and the two co-founders undertook the task of writing their first album. Taking inspiration from the worlds of science fiction and video games, Caroline introduces the concept of the story that will become Aleryon, and Ludovic uses his many influences from the world of music to compose a decidedly progressive accompanying score, skillfully mixing metal riffs with classical and Celtic sounds and also the electronic sounds that are soon to become the defining characteristic of the 'new' Kimura. They are subsequently joined in 2011 by two additional members, who form the powerful rhythm section that becomes the core of the new group, and they are now able to take their concept album on stage. Kimura is a young band that reminds the public that progressive rock is very much alive and well.

They class themselves as Celtic/Neo progressive, and I guess that's not too far off the mark... Cool

Checked their stuffs. Great ones indeed ... Neo-ish flavour they have indeed, but too mainstream-y for Neo.
Crossover is one of their best places, methinks.

Anyway, "Kimura" is one of the most popular Japanese surnames (like "Brown" or "Smith" in English bloc) hehe. Tongue
