THE CUSTODIAN is the UK’s newest and most exciting progressive rock band. Formed in late 2012, the band is already about to release their debut album 'Necessary Wasted Time' via The Lasers Edge Records on June 18th in the US, and on July 5th in Europe.

The band is led by British musician Richard Thomson, better known as the vocalist of progressive metal group Xerath ( http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=4838" rel="nofollow - http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=4838 ), and he is joined for this venture by two other members of that band - namely Michael Pitman and Owain Williams. The project was was initially started in a bedroom in Warwickshire and has now, after being kept on hold for several years due to various other commitments, been launched as a fully-fledged band that appears to be about to take the prog rock world by storm.

Commenting on the release, Richard states “I love so many types of music, it was impossible for me not to start something completely different from my other band. I have a particular affection for progressive music from the 70′s and wanted to create something in that vein, and hopefully, something new and exciting!” Necessary Waste Of Time was initially available to purchase via cdbaby, but interest was so strong that the band was snapped up by The Lasers Edge Records, the whole thing re-mastered, and it is now set to be re-launched professionally, amidst much expectation, Worldwide.

This album was written in its entirety by Richard Thomson about 4 years ago & recorded by the band in their home studio, and has now been mixed by Danish producer Jacob Hansen and mastered by Bob Katz. The artwork was created by British artist Colin Marks of Rainsong design.

Certainly an eclectic mix of styles but also quite mainstream and ''light''... Richard says as much himself in that interview (''commercial''). I think Crossover should probably have the first look.
