This is a thread dedicated to those members who haven't posted here for 6 months or longer. I'll start the eulogy with:

5 Minute Solo

Anybody else notice people who were once prevalent here now gone and disappeared?

Vibrationbaby (I seem to remember him going off in a huff), Aqualung28, Emperor and Prog-bassist to name a few ...

I think some people like Fragile, Radioactive Toy, Metropolis, Swinton, Shrinking Violet, Sigod and Man-Erg have toned it down a lot ... but they still surface from time to time

And then there are the mysterious names like Tauhd Zia, Belljar, Corbet Cross and Alexander ... who were apparently very active at the beginning but I only come accross when I do a search ... and then there's the whole Tonny Larz thing ... which is also quite a curiousity ....

The banned/retired lot with various personaes include KE9, Flowerchild, wallace, etc (and Thank God, I'm afraid I have to say!)

Most notable are the "good-bye brigade" who have perpetuated the "Hotel Progifornia" myth (you can check out, but you can never leave) ... the much-loved Peter, James Lee and gdub who occasionally announce their departure but are still crazy after all these years ...

Does that sum it up nicely?

Alexander no longer posting is a real loss to the PA - especially as he has an almost encyclopedic knowledge of the Canterbury scene; surely rare among 16 year old Californians....

How about old Stormcrow, then? Another one with a wide breadth of knowledge (and a highly developed bizarre sense of humour, too).

strangely enough there is somebody posting as Storm Crow also from Canada. I PM'd him to clear up this confusion , but he denied being the Stormcrow.

I do hope to see Vibration Baby /Ian Gledhill back at least for reviewing. He did push his luck a little far with his so-called Forum level of ignorance. I think the man needed a lot more real connaisseur, but he was not very patient . It has been six months!

Alexander and I are internet friends away from this site (we actually encountered one another on a Pink Floyd forum long before either of us listened to any prog that wasn't Pink Floyd).  The reason he doesn't come here anymore is that he doesn't like prog, or rock at all for that matter, anymore.  His music listening nowadays consists pretty much entirely of free jazz and other experimental jazz type things.

Actually the saddest loss to the forums ever was Pixel Pirate. A most cynical fellow with a morbid outlook of the world, but still a nice guy. Unfortunately, due to medical reasons with his eyes, he was forced to leave as he was struggling to see his monitor.

I miss him.

Ah, yes I remember Pixel Pirate.

BTW: Sorry about the page!

I love how this forum has apparently forgotten how to keep a thread on topic...

Posted By: Cygnus X-2
Date Posted: August 07 2005 at 00:46

You can blame that on stonebeard and Man With Hat... and me I suppose...

I don't want things to get out of hand (I try to keep it within threads that can... i.e. not serious ones), and here it did.

Sorry.

^ Didn't he say something before he disappeared that he wouldn't be able to access this site while he was at school? I somewhat remember something like that.

He occasionally pops in for a post or two. He was a collaborator for awhile, but he was demoted because he wasn't following the reviewing rules.
