Well, it's billed as Symphonic Prog here: http://newprogreleases.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/hidden-lands-in-our-nature.html" rel="nofollow - http://newprogreleases.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/hidden-lands-in-our-nature.html  where I found it, so who knows?.

Band from the ashes of Swedish Proggers Violent Silence (four out of the five former members), who bring us this fine album with Hannes Ljunghall (composer/lyricist, keyboards & guitars) as main figure. Hannes recruited all his former band mates, bar one. It is a very interesting album that music wise is mainly keyboard orientated, you actually don't hear much guitar even though stated in the booklet. But you get loads of keyboard washes, soli & melody lines, underlined by fine bass and solid drums. Add to that the very fine voice/vocals of Bruno Edling. Some tracks, in the instrumental parts, are reminiscent of Greenslade and/or even Rare Bird at times.

As I said it's billed as Symphonic, but to me it sounds a bit too light without the sound of the guitar being much in evidence...but there again ELP didn't use one  at all!

Couple of YouTube vids (tracks 2 & 3):

Dead cert for the site, but do I take it straight down to Crossover, or let Iván & his men run their ears over it first? Ermm

Nice find, David! Clap I see Violent Silence are already in Crossover, but I think this is somewhere between Symph and Neo judging by those two vids. Just my tuppence worth.

Thanks Chris.

I've sent Iván the link to the thread, and some other samples, so we'll wait until his team has made its decision before deciding the next place to try for this act (if we need one, that is). Thumbs Up

Hidden Lands is a killer band, I love them, they fit perfectly in the symphonic section, if has some eclectic moments. I saw Ivan take them under the wing.

Iván has said that eventually his team will consider (and he is certain will accept) them, but first he wants to send them to Heavy and/or Eclectic for evaluation by one (or possibly both) of those teams. I haven't seen anything dropped in either of those team's threads as yet, so am unclear regarding the current situation with this band.

I see a lot of Ambient here.

But will send them again to Scott and Fritz

Thanks for the reply Iván.
I haven't added the band to progfreak yet. I wanted to see which team would be considered most appropriate for the initial evaluation before proceeding.  Your own team don't use progfreak, but since I have already mentioned this band in our team thread as a possible future candidate for evaluation, I will add them now to the progfreak main database...but not to our chart itself until Symphonic team have officially said 'no'.

Edit: (@ Iván, see message below) Done...and added to our chart: http://progfreak.com/Hidden-Lands-155139.html?path=pa/recent" rel="nofollow - http://progfreak.com/Hidden-Lands-155139.html?path=pa/recent   Thumbs Up

Add it in your chart, when the guys are back they will check it anyway.

Knowing them i'd guess the vote will be Xover

In our chart now, but I'll tell the guys not to start casting their votes until Fritz and Scott have both defintely said 'no' for Symphonic too.

Had a listen today. There are strong Neo flavours throughout the music and it feels more Neo than Symphonic. Perhaps Crossover as the styles converge, but it would be interesting tohear theor opinion before evaluating further as there ar enot enough Symphonic elements to vote Yes.

Scott has voted on the previous post

Fritz (Southsideodthe Sky) has sent me a PM about Hidden Lands that I won't post according to the site rules (you can't post PM's without express permission of the sender) but he votes for Crossover

My vote is also Crossover

It's UNANIMOUS for us, Hidden Lands not accepted in Sumphonic.

Xover, maybe Neo in our opinion.

Thanks Iván. I will drop this suggestion into Neo team's thread first, since two collabs have said they hear Neo flavours in the music. If Neo don't want them we will evaluate in Crossover, and I would expect an easy ride there. Smile

Only Scott mentioned Neo.

Fritz said Crossover

Just in case it helps

They were cleared in crossover so I added them. If the teams wants to trade I guess they can sort that later on, but the band is in the database now at least.
