Firstly my sincere apologies to Alex (Sheavy) for this thread being started here, because this is HIS suggestion, not mine.
He asked in the Talfast thread last night ( http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=89612&PID=4618248#4618248" rel="nofollow - http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=89612&PID=4618248#4618248 ) if a band I was about to suggest was Tangram, and I posted a soundcloud link to some music in order for him to confirm that I was looking at the right Tangram (at least two other bands/artists of that name have existed at some point). My post unfortunately was the start of a new page in the thread, and it looked to all intents and purposes like a fresh suggestion, since it contained a link to some music...Andy had a listen, agreed it was probably going to be suitable PE material, & promptly notified the team!!...Whoops!
So, being as I have already inadvertently 'stolen' Alex's suggestion (I'm guessing he was just about to suggest this band himself, or he wouldn't have asked me if it was MY suggestion, would he?)...Well, I might as well finish now the job off!
Tangram is a music project founded in 2005, in Budapest, Hungary by Péter Fabók, (who had been creating albums since 2001), essentially as homage to Tangerine Dream. It offers a unique and inspiring range of lounge, ambient and other new electronic music styles. Live performances become a work of art in themselves, providing a rich experience that combines dynamic audio and visual elements.
The debut album, "Highway Ambience" was released by Karmatronic Records in September 2007, in Hungary and abroad as well as on iTunes and other online music stores. After the international success of the electronic space music album, "Tepidarium" and "Mindwaves", Fabók composed "Vermillion", a synth EP. The first track was "Bronze Bumblebees", which made #2 on the Budapest Alternative Music Chart.
Committed to new opportunities for growth and creative expression, Tangram continues exploring music that has special meaning and truly is the soundtrack of your life.
Influences: berlin school, ambient, 70's-80's synth music, downtempo, Ulrich Schnauss, Tangerine Dream, Der Spyra, Solar Fields, Biosphere, Aes Dana.
