I recommend Ozric Tentacles, Very spacey instrumental rock that is quite fun and trippy.
Also, the Crazy World of Arthur Brown is one of the best Hard Psych albums ever.

I like the Ozrics but be forewarned you will go broke if you try to pick up a good portion of their discography. They were also burned out by wildfires recently and will surely appreciate your support.

Also, you might want to check out this awesome thread that Assaf created awhile back. He has some really good psych/space recommendation in it.

I've been listening to quite a bit of psych lately and I'd highly recommend Interkosmos. Really spaced out stuff that is pretty mellow and doesn't rely on effects too much
If your looking for something in the same vein with more strange, trippy sounds give Electric Moon a try, its the same guy doing most of the songwriting.
Also Check out The Cosmic Dead, they're a fairly new band from Glasgow that is similar to Electric Moon, but with a dark atmosphere and heavier than a bag of bricks!
Of course if you're looking for something more rock based try Mars Red Sky, really catchy stuff.
Anyway, I don't want to be posting too many youtube links so I'll just say you can't go wrong with anything by Dead Meadow, Litmus, Comets on Fire, or White Hills.

These two are awesome! I'm not as much into the 3rd one but maybe after a few more listens that will change.
Also I'd definitely second rushfan4's Astra rec, great stuff. Speaking of Astra has anyone heard their new one? How is it?

I'd actually recommend Kayo Dot, if you have not heard them already. They're labelled as Avant Prog here, which they certainly are, but then again, Kayo Dot is so diverse, it's hard to pin them down to a specific sound. Psychedelic/ Atmospheric traits are quite present:
Tell me that isn't psychedelic.

Amon Düül II (69-73)
Can
Soft Machine (first three)
Boredoms - Vision Creation Newsun
Also, Älgarnas Trädgård is a wonderful early 70's psych group from Sweden. Their first album is incredibly good.

Look no further than the good old Grateful Dead, especially 1966-69. Athem of the Sun, Aoxamoxoa, Live/Dead or one of the boatload of live shows from the era. Then they turned rootsy, then they went jazzy, then they tried funky, then they went mainstream.....but the live shows were still psychadelic raves. Anyone
Still cannot understand why PA excludes the Dead.
