Many people will probably say "Oh well, another Led Zeppelin vs Who poll, is he going to do a Jimmy Page vs Pete Townshend Poll or a John Paul Jones vs John Entwisle Poll ?" But I had done this because they have many things in common. Both were sexually attractive , both had blonde hair and both had many stage moves. But also, they have different voices. So who's the best. Robert (Baby baby bay-be) or Roger.

Robert Plant for sure.

It's tough-- they're both magnificent and both lost a big part of their range later on; but because of Plant's historical mastery of American Blues phrasing and what he continues to do with his solo career, I give it to Planty.

I love Zeppelin at least 3 times as much as I love the Who, but I've got to vote for Daltrey here, because he doesn't do Plant's annoying habit of scat-sing/moan/babybabying as much. And Daltrey pulled off some screams that have never been topped.

I vote Robert. They have really lots of things in common. They used to be good friends, LZ and Who, didn't they? The only thing I really love about Daltrey more than about Plant is his dancing :))

Roger Daltrey's voice is incredible. Who's Next might be my favorite album when it comes to vocals. Robert Plant's voice has a tendency to annoy me in its higher registers although he too has his fair share of great moments.

Tough poll...but not a tough decision for me. Daltrey's early recordings are damn fine, you can really hear the young boy in his vocals...then all of a sudden we get Quadraphenia, Who's Next...and wow! The vocals explode, more mature, thoughtful, with power.
And also for me, I never had a problem following along with The Who's lyrics, not so much with Zeppelin.

Honestly can't choose, so I'm going to vote for PLant because he has less votes, and I'm going to get to see him live in August.

I think Planty's singing is my favorite thing about Led Zep, since Jimmy Page is the most overrated guitarist ever, John Paul Jones is a good musician but he's always at the back and Bonzo is too drunk.

Plant has never, to my knowledge, sung with this fury, at this intensity. This song is to me a microcosm of rock music at its very best
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDbAtWpoA6k&feature=related" rel="nofollow - Have to say though that Plant was a more influential voice for rock, especially high singing in rock.

Plant became more of an icon but in terms of singing style and voice I prefer Daltrey by far. Generally much more musical and mature, less womanish "baby-baby-babeeee ahh-ohhh-ahhh babe I'm coming" screamings, but when he had to scream he did it like few others (Love Reign O'r Me being certainly a good example).

This. In spades. Even though I like Zep a lot more than The Who.

Roger Daltrey's voice conquers all. Robert Plant couldn't match the raw lust of the vocals in Love Reign O'er Me. Daltrey have a more powerful voice, Plant has a fun voice. Though, I love more of Zeppelin's albums.

For me, Plant fronted the band with the better catalog, but Daltrey's voice and lyrics are far better.

Let's face it, neither are great musical singers, though both are great vocal leaders of the band. I personally prefer Daltrey, less histrionics and more to the point.

Daltrey was unstoppable back in the day. He's lost a lot of his range now. But just listen to Quadrophenia and 'Love Reign O'er Me'.
Plant also was magnificent in his prime. He's lost his range too.

Daltrey is one of the greatest rock singers of all time. He is staggeringly good. Plant is a decent singer who sounded okay on Lep Zep 1 and never sounded that good again .

I prefer Plant's voice but his insistence on sticking the phrase baby/baby/baby into most songs is a bit annoying. There are other terms of endearment he could go for, such as 'Sugar Plum', 'Fluff Muffin' or 'Sweetie' to name but three.
Although I don't think Daltrey's voice is as good, he doesn't seem to overuse terms of endearment. I agree with the comment above - Daltrey would definitely win a fight with Plant.

oufff very hard polls today! First Floyd Vs Jethro, and now this? They are great singers and they both left a very big heritage behind them. But there is a voice in my head that whispers "Plant, Plant, Plant". So I will follow the voice's advice.

I vote for Daltrey voice-wise, but sometimes I feel like he had no idea what Townshend was trying to say in his songs, trying to make Pete's self-deprecation all macho sounding. Plant wrote his own lyrics so I never get that sense of disconnect. So, uh, a tie.

The only way to solve that question is to have Plant sing some Who classics and Daltrey some Zep classics and see who sounds better.
