I found it interesting the Beatles were known for being harmonically odd but being remarkably melodic at the same time. Then when I first heard the Beatles versions of "Red Hot", "Long Tall Sally" etc.. from their days at the Star Club in Hamburg 1962 they sound like a cross between a proto-punk band and a hard rocking rockabilly band. It's interesting that this part of the Beatles career is not really well known by many people.

Some of the rockabilly style of playing made itself present in their music from 64' to 66'. Then Revolver was released and the band drifted away from that influence heading more in the direction of English psych/progressive. Although on the White album and Let It Be they return briefly with Harrison's rockabilly type guitar solos and a few Country influenced songs. If you listen to "Beatles For Sale" ...Harrison's soloing is a bit Chet Atkins or what is better known as "Travis picking" or "Travis style". On "Baby's In Black", "I Don't Want to Spoil the Party" and actually many others songs Harrison plays chord leads which are stylistically based around a "hot fingering technique" developed in the Mississippi Delta, Memphis, Texas, etc...
