What is your personal favorite Iron Maiden song?
I'd have to say The Prophecy.
I also love Still Life.
What about you!?

you mean "man on the edge"...with its chorus "fallin' down..."
I love "flash of the blade", especially when the music is associated to the images of Dario Argento's movie 'phenomena'

From way back it has to be Phantom.
More recent The Clairvoyant always worked pretty well for me.
in the naughties i'd say Ghosts of Navigators

For a few years now it's been a battle between Stranger in a Strange Land and Lord of Light. Undecided still, but perhaps edging towards the former.

hard to top Rime of the Ancient Mariner. I still love the entire of Powerslave, after all these years
their new more stretched out, prog-alike material isn't *bad* either but it feels a little ambitious for a band you secretly just want to hear gallop and kick ass

Its extrememly hard to pick one iron maiden song, but in my opinion, it would have to be Hallowed Be Thy Name. Bruce's amazing vocals, (nevermind the friggin amazing 20-count note he holds in the intro) combined with the extremely long and well-put together guitar solo, followed by four repetitions of hallowed be they name, its just Maiden at its best. Plus, its on their greatest album of all time, Number of the Beast.

Yep! Good call. Always loved that song.
I'm more inclined towards early Maiden, that is everything up to and including Powerslave, although I admit I'm not as familiar with the later stuff. Bayley ear, I don't know at all:
Wrathchild.
The prisoner
The number of the beast
Still Life
To Tame a land
2 Minutes to midnight
Rhyme of the ancient mariner
All great metal tunes.

the last two or thee albums are pretty much in the progressive metal zone......
Hard to pick a favourite.
Phantom from the early days
The clairvoyant from the middle period
And ghosts of navigators from the recent era (though there are plenty to choose from)

D'ano era: Phanton Of The Opera
Dickinson era: Rime of The Ancient Mariner
Blaze era: Sign of The Cross/The Clansman
The last 4 albums are amazing, it has probably their most progressive stuff, songs like Dream of Mirrors, The Talisman, Starblind, The Thin Line Between Love and Hate, Dance Of Death, Greater Good of God, etc....truly epic.

Sign of the Cross is of course the best Baley era song, but it's just way better when Dickinson sings it (aka Rock In Rio 2000)
