Pendragon for me. Had Opeth lost their need to growl earlier and made more albums like their most recent one it would have been a much harder choice for me to make. I enjoy beauty, drama, passion and melody in music. Some guy trying to sound like a demon belching just doesn't do it for me and thankfully the growlers are proving to be a dying breed as the musicians who can play mature beyond the fad. ------------- I'm a normal psychopath |

Pendragon, oh god Pendragon. Please be Pendragon. How could anyone not vote for Pendragon. 100% Pendragon. If Pendragon don't win this round I will revert to a state of comatose for the next 60 years. Having said that, I love Opeth, but guys? Pendragon!

Well in the groups round IQ kicked Opeth's ass, so it's not crazy that Pendragon is giving a hard battle here too, although I think Opeth is gonna win this... As for the bands, I can't stand the cookie monster voice too (I'm enjoying Heritage A LOT), so I'll vote for Pendie... ------------- I look up, I'm almost blinded by the warmth of what's inside me and the taste that's in my soul, but I'm dead inside as I stand alone... |

Exactly. If you don't like them, fine, there are a lot of things I don't like. What I don't do, however, is constantly ridicule those things, moan about them every single time they are mentioned, and go out of my way to devalue the opinion of everyone who likes said thing. Argh. I cannot decide. I only got in to Pendragon this year, and have only their three latest, but I've grown to like them very much. But Opeth is great as well... Argh. What can convince me to vote one way or the other?

I'm normally a neo-prog fanboy, but I went with Opeth. Pendragon would be much better with a dedicated vocalist IMO(not Nick Barrett). It's only the last three albums that Pendragon have grabbed my attention by shaking up their sound for the better. I just find Opeth far superior instrumentally and finally getting better vocally. ------------- A GREAT YEAR FOR PROG!!! |

Pendragon makes more stabile music, they have the taste of the wine, their music settles down in your ears and takes you on safer journeys whereas Opeth has an adolescent and dangerous attitude trying to improve and enhance their surprisingly changing music at the expense of losing their regular followers with their newer albums. I would prefer Opeth for their courage and experimental style which I think will take prog music to different directions in the future. |
