Just a curiosity to find out what kind of cars you all drive.
I have a 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis. The one below isn't mine but it's the exact same car. Everything's the same. How about you guys?

The saga of Brian's vehicles: #1 - dark blue Ford Gran Torino, paid cash, met it's demise when an old driver coming the opposite direction made a bad left turn in front of me. #2 - light blue Ford Gran Torino, paid cash, met it's demise just because it was old and the engine started burning oil rather bad. #3 - silver/gray Nissan Pickup, first loan, had it a few months before it was stolen and stripped, got it back though. Got sideswiped by a BMW when I was trying to get over due to my fuel pump acting up. The BMW veered off into a gas station and took out a pump. Met it's demise when I was rear ended by an alien on Halloween. (No not that kind of alien.) #4 - red Nissan Pickup, cash and insurance money. Lasted just a few months before I got t-boned trying to beat a yellow light. The lady coming the opposite way freaked out and got out of her car and let it go on rolling down the highway. #5 - white Nissan Pickup, king cab, cash and insurance money, got a few good years out of it until the house flood. Barely got it out of the water in time but to no avail. The water it did take on caused the transmission to go out in a couple of weeks and take the engine with it despite having taken it to a shop after the flood rescue. Replaced those only for it to meet it's demise a month or so later in a head on. #6 - gray/silver Nissan Pickup, they only make extended cab versions these days. Knock on metal. Had to take out a loan for it.

I had a 1991 Honda Accord before the power steering failed which lead to my brother going over a curb and f**king it all up.
Probably going to get an mx5 as my next car or if I can afford it an rx8 (environmentalist be damned!).
I also used to have a Kawasaki ninja 250 before a douchebag in a Tacoma backed into it at a parking lot. Got $3k for it which is not bad considering I only paid $1500 or so for it.

I'm kinda thinking that now that I'm on number four what are the odds of having another one wiped out? I suspect it will come in the form of some kind of freak accident.
By the way, in the crash of the white nissan I was listening to Big Big Train's English Boy Wonders and the Airbag didn't really save my life. In fact it misdeployed and my face hit the steering wheel. The lid popped off but I got a lung full of airbag gas which I had a severe allergic reaction to.

You have to see that car, compared to modern car, like a great turntable with a great vinyl collection compared to an iPod with digital file albums.

I had an english-built Ford Escort GT (not the XR3-i) bought in 1990 ( Ferrari-red colour >> I looked like a million $ in it ), but around 165.000km, the car stopped counting the kms and didn't indicate speed anymore (that second issue was less a problem... I knew what speed I was doing by the RPM counter and the gear I was in...)
It was two red plastic gears at the end of the transmission ... completely worn-out in contact with a metal gearbox ....No way to repair without dismounting the transmission and emptying it >> and reconstructing it >> you can imagine ££$$€€€€€€€€ .... Obviously a flaw in design ... Such a stupid thing to do ..... I asked for them to have repair it under the warranty (despite owning the car for six or seven years, but it was a defectuous design), which they told me to f**k off. ... I f**ked them back since...
Within two weeks, the car was sold to some African ( he was aware of the flaw >> how could he not be? ).... And I will NEVER buy Ford again.... And have probably (hopefully) discouraged hundreds of people from buying Ford over the years!!!

I've owned Fords all of my life and I have never had any major problems with them.

The 5.0 Mustang from 86 was perfect, I must say!! (but I only kept it three years, before moving across the pond)
I used to drive Toronto-Montreal (500km) in 2.5 hours on friday nights and return on sunday nights (going too quick for radars and I luckily never got chased)

The DS isn't, but the SM... You'd have to be SadoMasochist to even look at it - I mean, what were they thinking?... it's a boat with wheels.

It's not bust any more, Colin.
It drives nicely and isn't that expensive. It suits me fine. I don't want an expensive car that will get keyed the moment I get it home.

Of course, we need a car to move distances too great to walk, but what's really important here??
