I joined the prog archives yesterday and made several posts.  Well, when I went to check my e-mails this morning all was gone including messages sent to me I saved from yesterday, about 12 messages, and my history of messages sent, about 10 messages.  Not very comforting to say the least.  Actually, I'm pretty pissed right now.  Nothing like this has ever happened to me.  It's a shame some asshole has to mess it up for those of us who love this stuff.  I really dig this site and all but I think I'm going to have to cancel my membership, unless someone can explain this to me.

Errr... nothing similar has ever happened to any member (or at least nothing has been reported by any of the almost 3000 members of the forum).
Why do you assume that a bug in your computer is in any way related to Progarchives?

I believe it is related to progarchives because:

1)  I am not a member of any other forum.  As a matter of fact this is the first forum I have joined on this computer and on this account.  The same day I joined I am missing all my emails from yesterday including many from this site.

2)  I have never had a problem with my email service or computer the 6 months I have been using both.  It seems strange the day I join a forum I have a problem I never had before.

3)  In addition to missing all of my saved messages I am missing all messages sent that I saved.  Again, nothing like this has ever happened to me.  It just seems very strange.

4)  I had to reregister to post this reply?

5)  Maybe instead of getting defensive we can try to figure this out.

Wouldn't you be the least bit suspicious if this happened to you.  Most of the e-mails I had saved were from this site.  Unfortunately, I also had one from my brother with his new e-mail address I now don't have.  Again, nothing like this has ever happened to me and there is no other reason it would.

I take back number 4.  I didn't use the correct sign-in name.  My bad.  I'm going to do a virus-scan on my computer to see if I can pick anything up.  I really hope it is just something stupid with my computer, but that really seems doubtful to me since all this happened after I joined.  Please understand my concerns.  I really dig this site and hope I can figure this out.

I hope its coincidence, but i doubt it has anything to do with the site.

I am no longer recieving any emails anymore.  I am definetly not feeling good about this.  Since my messages disappeared this morning no emails have been able to be sent to me.  Even when replies were posted to my original message this morning I recieved no emails notifying me of this.  Last night I had about 10 messages from replies from posts I made.  I was receiving mail everytime someone answered my posts.  Now my service is totally down.  So I definitely need to talk to the web administrator.

OK, if you were receiving automatically generated emails every time somebody answered one of your posts, maybe it's as simple as your email system is considering them spam and putting them away. There is usually a temporary folder in which spam is stored, try to look for it...

I checked the folder my email program files spam in.  Nothing there.  Not just that, but all my messages were gone including ones from my brother and messages in my out folder that I had composed and sent out in the past and saved for reference.  Early this morning all my messages just popped back up out of nowhere while I was on my email program.  i have no idea what was going on.  I had not only lost all my old messages, but I was unable to recieve any emails while this was happening.  I ran a virus scan and it came  back clean, but they can be pretty unreliable.  Though, my computer doesn't act like it has a virus.  They usually mess up more than just one part of the enternet.  While I'm happy to just have my service back and hope all stays cool.  Thanks for offering the help.  At least you offered me help instead of telling me it never happened to you before.

OK then, I guess you have a real problem in your computer. I still don't believe it's related in any way to progarchives, but only a coincidence.
Good luck!

On 15 July 1982 at approx 4 pm I ate an Ice cream. 30 mins later an Ice Cream Van knocked me off my motor bike.

Eating ice cream can do this to you.

This is a true story BTW.
