A rock fan and an amateur guitarist asked me to put a compilation of jazz rock guitarist onto a burn, to expand his education. In making my selection I was reminded that Bill Bruford and Tony Levin were employed as the rhythm section on record by people outside Krimson. (Forget BLUE), name three artists (and their albums) who had Bruford and Levin on board.

What Orchestral Group did Bill perform with in the late 80's or early 90's? A one-off recording.

Which do you prefer?

Jeff Berlin is a chops monster, no doubt, but Levin has that slippery "feel" thing that I find much more enjoyable.

I've never put them together for comparision, perhaps because I hear quite different players but equally interesting in their different ways - as you suggested
