Well the idea is basically that www.progarchives com it gave the space for us the great Latin American community and of Hispanic speech in general, to expose our subjects, our doubts, commentaries etc.etc. Serious entertained. In any case is only a proposal. |

Actually, although the site is unlikely to provide a specific place for any particular community to be "segregated" here, there have been various threads in non-english languages, and they have been, and will continue to be, permitted to remain.
So feel free to start a thread about any topic in any language you wish, and as long as members respond, those threads will remain as regular and viable as anything else.
Hope this works for you!
Peace.

it would be cool to have a translator attached to the
site! simply copy words and translate to say,
spanish, french, italian, german, danish, swedish,
portuguese, greek, egyptian, russian, japanese,
chinese etc
for communication between foreign guests!

Maybe, but the most popular online language translators (primarily
babelfish or whatever it is on altavista) are *awful* with handling any
of the romance languages. It does a pretty good job with the German
though.
It's especially bad with Spanish. I could see why it's not that good
though. It's hard when there's Castillian Spanish and the t h o u s a n
d s of Central and South American Spanish dialects.

Maybe some computer-smart people on the forum could create one.

Ugh..yeah.. they're break offs from British English. Especially
Austrailian English. British English was the base for our American form
of English, so yes. It is.

I wouldn't say in Peru, Colombia or Venezuela there is a Spanish dialect, they aren't different from Castillian Spanish, maybe the most different is in USA(spanglish) o Argentina(some old spanish and italian words). Anyway their Spanish is easy to understand in other spanish speaking countries, even their slang.

What REALLY freaks me out is how many different nouns there are for a BUS (depending where you are)
camión - Mexico, camioneta - Guatemala, chiva - Panama, autobús - Colombia, colectivo - Argentina, micro - Chile, guagua - Cuba
Yeah, generally you don't have trouble if you're not familiar with any differences in any words.
But, if something you don't know is offensive in the particular area
you are, and you offend somebody, you find out reallllly quick.
I'm not a native speaker and stuff like that freaks me out.

what???
anyway, yo creo que no tendria nada de malo tener un foro en español, seguiremos por supuesto paricipando en los demas donde el idioma oficial es el ingles, pero un foro entre tantos que hay aqui que sea dedicado al idioma español para todos los amantes latinos del progre seria muy buena idea, porque hay muchisimos que somos latinos y amamos al progre, usando nuestro idioma nos seria un poco mas facil entender los puntos de vista y todo.

If that's your problem, improve your English writing here, maybe it helps
