I have a much loved battered old copy of the original Made In Japan- arguably still the best live album ever- but I was wondering whether I should get the re-release which adds three songs from the same shows not included on the original album: Black Night, Speed King and Lucille. Are they worth it?
Also, has anyone heard Dream Theater's remake of the entire Made In Japan album? What was that like? |

I have the old CD pressing of it and I borrowed the new one from the library - the encores were interesting but nothing I'd have to own. Speed King is perhaps my favourite Purple track, but I think I prefer the studio original by a longshot, this live version wasn't quite as sharp and aggressive.
