Better get the album in the database here as well. I can't track down album credits for this one, but if those can be supplied (what musicians played what instruments) I can add the album to the database in asap.

Would have liked reviewing it as well, but  I have enough CDs to cover to last out this calendar year as it is.

Hello Colin,

I downloaded your two albums from Amazon and though I have only given them unfocused first listens, I did find them enjoyable and I will return for further, more thorough listening.
All the best with your musical endeavours.

Hi all thanks for the favourable comments, I think that I've sent the last of the requested CD's, and I've done Torrod's interview. Look forward (with trepidation) to seeing what happens next!

Interview will be published tomorrow at lunch time. I will email you the link when it is published, Colin.

Don't worry. We have all been vaccinated against rabies and we will not pass anything like that over to you. We may review your albums, though.

A brief word to say that I've finished sending review copies. I now have a site up seperate from the Morrigan site, It's still quite primitive, but  has a cd order facility, as well as a download link. I hope later to add a download of the album artwork, at full quality so that people can make their own cd's if they want, and I'll be putting up a number of freebie tracks of stuff I have been doing for computer games.
The address for the site is www.colinmasson.co.uk

Hi everybody,

I'm new on this forum. I live in France and i'm 43 years old.

I bought the Isle of Eight album in 2002. Not easy to find in France, I had to wait 3 week till it arrived at home !!

It's a great album !! One of my ten favorites albums, just after the best Mike Oldfield's albums !

Very happy to know that you did a new one. Is it the same style than Isle of Eight ?

I think I'll buy it soon

Your post is of the kind that makes me very glad that I am still making music, I think it is true to say that it is not that different from the Isle of eight in style, if you want to hear a track as a taster you can follow this link,
http://www.myspace.com/colinmasson - http://www.myspace.com/colinmasson
The track entitled "Tilting at Windmills" is the second one on the album,
If you would like to buy the album, it is available here, as either a CD or a download
http://www.colinmasson.co.uk - http://www.colinmasson.co.uk
Also if you have not looked before, this is a link to the band I play in,
http://www.themorrigan.co.uk - http://www.themorrigan.co.uk
thanks again, also if you keep an eye on the first link, I will be putting up some freebies related to computer games that I have done, (as they are already in the public domain).
Many thanks again.

Many thanks to Marty McFly and J-Man for the great reviews.  Unfortunately for anyone else who wants to review it now, it'll have to be downloads only.  So far I have sent more CD's for review than I have actually sold!  In the short term I won't be available, as I have said, I'll be in Greece for about a week.  After that I shall be able to correspond again.  Many thanks to everybody involved.

I really do as well. This is great stuff... hopefully the PA community will notice all the praising reviews coming out and shell out a few bucks towards the album. Wink

Thanks guys. I was on the Four Star bandwagon to begin with, but the thing kept growing on me.

Just to say I'm back from Greece, and I've got a nice little pile of orders as well as some interest from a couple of wholesalers. So it certainly looks like the reviews have done their bit. Cathy and me are now thinking of doing a duo album, which is already halfway there as we have accumulated quite a few tracks over the years.
Also (Strikes while the iron is hot), about 18 months ago we did a collaboration with Max Hunt, the keyboard player for Fragile, and Tantalus, under the name of Artorius. The project, which is Max,s idea first and foremost, is a kind of potted history of the life of Arthur the King of the Britons. (We have no plans however to do it on ice.Embarrassed)  At the time we were all too busy to give the album the time it deserved, (Particularily Max who has been touring pretty well non stop for the last year), so it pretty well sank without a trace, but it had some interesting stuff on it so you might like to give it a listen.
Anyway A really big thanks to all of you for the attention and kind words, makin music is not always that easy, but I am now all fired up to do some more. If I can find Archie (The Morrigan's drummer ) who can be a bit elusive, there might even be another Morrigan album before we all fall over!Stern Smile

I've updated my website, to include excerpts from all your reviews, plus quite a bit more, there is also the music from the Oblivion game plus a couple of videos that you might be interested in.

Colin.

If I was you, I would also take a song or parts of a song and make that into a Youtube video. Just make a collage of pictures (from your farm and surrounding landscape ??) and put music on the top of that. That's in effect a video made for free with free software. You already got the skills. You can also do the same for some Morrigan songs.

Believe me, these DIY videos is very effective marketing tools. The new  craze among music fans - including prog rock fans -  is Youtube parties at home with drink, food and a large monitor & speakers showing Youtube videos. I have also heard some pubs also have Youtube parties. Your video should be included in these parties.

No, I don't do this myself. I am far too dull to get involved in anything as trendy as that.

When can I expect the Morrigan interview, btw ?

Posted By: Colin Masson
Date Posted: November 13 2010 at 15:28
Funnily enough I had already  started on a video (not that I knew anything about video parties!) but I left it as I was too ambitious and it got rather difficult, I could use some of what I've done in a rather simpler video however.

Right now I'm finishing a rather complicated piece of artwork for a chap in Japan Geek
When that's done I'll make the video a priority.

Concerning the interview, It looks like I'll have to do it, Cathy gets rather bashful about doing interviews, and the rest of the band are somewhat spread around at the moment. (Our drummer appears to be hiding from the taxman). With a bit of luck I should be able to put it together tomorrow.
All the best.
Colin.

Hey Colin, I checked out one of your Oblivion videos. Unfortunately the video didn't work (out of town so I'm browsing on my phone while my wife sleeps) but the music was quite nice.

I didn't know you did mods yourself. Back in the day, I used to mod a game called Myth II: Soulblighter, it's what I attribute to getting me where I am now (game developer/entrepreneur). I have to admit Ive never played Oblivion but I've heard a lot of good things about it from friends.

The music is the most important here because Youtube is mostly used as a jukebox....... and an excellent jukebox it is too. Some black & white stills photos fading in and out is sufficient and a good video. Make a good one for free and you have http://www.tate.org.uk/modern/ - Tate Modern Art Gallery banging on your door.

I am looking forward to the interview.

I get the idea, but I might do a little better than black and white photos, unless of course I'm in one of my Berlin school minimalst moods.Wink

I will do the interview straight after the washing up, (thats 1 on the to do list). You should get it later this evening.

Thanks, for me melodic content is more important than fretboard pyromania (Which I'm not very good at).  Tongue

I started modding when I was at something of a low ebb with my music, and I continue to find it fascinating. These days I am getting more and more interested in 3d modelling. I can't afford 3dsmax, but am getting fairly proficient with blender, which is a pretty powerful piece of freeware. That then feeds back into my artwork,
it is all interesting, the main problem is I don't get the time to do everything I want to.

That's very kind of you, but I've already followed Torrod's advice, I've been making home movies over the last couple of years, and as a result of this thread I've tried something a little more ambitious. (I think I've posted these elsewhere on the site and you may have missed themBig smile

If you would still like to do a slide show, then "The Ends of the Earth" might be a good candidate.

Sorry to take so long getting back to you, outside circumstances have meant that I have not been looking in on the forums as much as I should. The album that you refer to is a collaboration with a very fine keyboard player , Max Hunt, who plays in the Yes tribute band Fragile, and has toured in Europe with Steve Howe,

Here is a link to the website, which includes excerpts from the album.
