Extremely glad we made the trip across the pond for this weekend. What a great experience! And for those of you who though Greg no longer had a voice... you were so sorely mistaken!
Here's the album... of 8 pages worth of ELP pics..

^ Yes I do.. most from the prog stage, day one.. and just the main stage from day two.. as I sat in front of the stage from 12:30 to 10:30 pm... for ELP. I just haven't had a chance to put them up yet.

Greg's tubbed out a little bit there. Well, as long as the food was good...
I see Keith still enjoys doing mean things to his keyboards...

No matter how often I see pictures of the fat Greg Lake, it throws me for a loop.

I'd really enjoy seeing some Focus pics, when you'll have some more time to upload them ... I have some photos, but I had some cheap camera, so... ELP pics are awesome (especially compared to mine and even to those that are up on HV homepage), so equally awesome Focus photos would be, well, awesome =).

Not sure why. He's been heavy since before the ELPowell tour in 1986... thats plenty of time to get use to it!

Anyone know how old these guys are now?
Carl is still in good shape. It's clear he's looked after himself. Lake should seriously slim down..!
I want to see him touring like a 20 year old, so I can go and see them again!

Drummers always stay in better shape.. you have to be very active to be a drummer in the first place. Carl turned 60 this past March. Greg will be 63 in Nov. Keith will be 66 in Nov.

Actually Carl isn't as ripped as he used to be (quite understandably). The side camera shots clearly showed his stomach bobbing up and down.

Love it - only on ProgArchives... one of the very earliest forum members posts some fab shots of ELP's first gig in 15 years & of the 19 responses, 8 are about Greg Lake's weight & 3 are about age
Great shots Linda, good to see you back on the forum

Great shots Linda and I am glad you got to see this. I was very fortunate to catch the E&L show here in LA. Greg's voice is so much better than the 90's. Do you know if he quit smoking cigarettes? Might explain the weight gain too. For 60 Carl looks pretty good. It must have been 4-5 years ago since played here with his band and he was in great shape then. Haven't seen any of the Asia shows.
Wish we could have been there with you to close down some pub afterwords!

Great shots Linda and I was in awe that ELP still did the same things as back in the 70s with the keyboard wrangling, did Emerson knife it? Lake could do with an exercise bike but great to see him here. Palmer looking good and still doing the T Shirt gag! Awesome band, unbeatable. Post more pix soon wont you!

We saw 3 of the E&L shows on the east coast. The first one was near the beginning when Greg still had a sort throat... and Keith wasn't looking so well either. But by the Keswick show, they were looking and sounding 100 times better. That last show in Atlantic City was just great. Greg's voice was pitch perfect and Keith's hand wasn't curling as much. They both seemed happier as well, made for a lovely evening, if I hadn't sprained my ankle on the boardwalk just an hour before.....but I waited till after the show before going to the Emergency Room....
Greg did stop smoking back in the 90s, but I think the weight gain is genetic, good living and lack of exercise.

Hey Linda this video was from the LA show. Keith was dedicating Prelude of hope to Stacy. I wrote him at his facebook page that she would be there being a relative of Amber Dubois in attendence. This was how he responded:

Well I did understand I was not communicating directly to him
It was a total surprise that night. I think Stacy was about to faint because I had told her nothing of what I had done because I was expecting nothing. Keith blew us both away.
We were able to get in touch with ELP's publicist and she delivered a had written thank you note from Stacy to Keith when they were back east. I heard he was very touched by it. Anyway a very sweet gesture on his part.

Some of my favorite photos I took that weekend are of my favorite new guitarist. I'd never really seen Joe Bonamassa in concert before, but he just blew me away. He was so tight and just about every note had such a perfect sound. He's one of those rare musicians where you can practically see the music coming through his body and out his guitar. This is one heck of a talented guy.. and I think I'm partial to someone who can play guitar and a theramin at the same time. Really great set!

Watched the highlights on Sky Arts 1 and to be quite frank, I thought ELP were awful. Keith Emerson, you are absolutely no match for Rick Wakeman!
Highlights were Marillion, who were awesome, and Transatlantic. JoBo was pretty impressive also.
Greg Lake, lay off the kebabs dude!!

Thanks for these excellent photographs. i've only heard the show from You Tube posts...looking forward to hearing the official live CD. As a drummer myself I can imagine what Palmer has to do to keep in shape. My biggest surprise was the excellent vocal of Lake as even on old official recordings (eg. Touch and Go, from '86) his vocal was weak. Can you imagine that not long after this concert Emerson was hospitalized to remove a colon polyp. Maybe the portable synth fireworks shook it loose!!

You still have to pay for Sky Arts as far as I am aware - it's part of the package. Don't worry if you do subscribe - they repeat things many, many times

oh yes when i said free i meant it is now part of the standard package, i never received SkyArts before but after they restructured everything with SkyAtlantic i was able to get SkyArts without having to subscribe to the arts package.
And yes i hope they do repeat the High Voltage highlights soon

To anyone who's in the slightest bit interested about KE's tech guy...
This guy's name is Tom Szakaly - a mate of mine & a good mate of KE's (KE actually used Tom's Hammond L100 at HV); also an incredible keyboard player in his own right who fronts an ELP tribute band called Noddys Puncture... worth checking out.
