Greets, everyone!

I'm a complete newbie to classic and pure prog but it's been a while that I dig rock/metal fusion stuff, though my experience is yet too limited.

One of the bands that I've come across was JRZ System with their "Greenhouse Effect" which was a great discover to me (if you've never happened to give these guys a listen, you surely got to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrhtdWn5i1o - do that
Thanks in advance!

trye some Tony Levin albums, he likes to slap hes bass and play avant garde prog at the same time, or Primus.

also god old Steely Dan with Chuck Raynee on bass guitar is funk fore youre money, the soundtrack to Hair is funky fusion with the slapp inventor on bass Larry Graham.

also Marcus Miller is a solid fusion bass player who are probably the best slapper of them all

I think you might like Guthrie Govan

Thank you everyone for your recommendations! Truly appreciated.
Just one note - I probably should have stated more clearly that I'm looking more for a music that conveys a similar atmosphere rather than uses a similar (funky) technique. With that said, I'm not sure why the thread was moved Wink

I'm a bit familiar with Tony Levin and I like the stick bass (I'm all about Sean Malone's projects) but it's not just about slapping. Marcus Miller is way closer to the mood I want to get from this kind of music. Leaving out the sax that I'm not really into, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHf7DvVpeiU - this video is a direct hit from 1:24 on. So could you please make some certain recommendations on this guy? By the way, some other day I heard the band http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53nLzZOZhPs - Science Faxtion that featured him. Cut the vocal, and thing would be priceless!

A couple of live tracks I watched on YouTube sound promising, though it definitely has a strong metal basis. Not quite what I was searching for but I gotta say I like what I hear, I'll give them a closer look!

Hm, can't say I liked it, neither can I say the opposite... I'm not a big fan of old-school prog, not yet at least.
