Well, it is bored and and I am late... or rather the other way around... late and I am bored. Haha. Maybe sleepiness is finally kicking in. But after much deliberation I have decided to join PA. Have browsed it infrequently throughout the years and have always had a strong interest in prog. I could probably stand to spend the rest of my life listening to nothing but King Crimson, Yes, and Genesis but I do enjoy giving everything a fair share and consider myslef open-minded- for instance Mew was a band I was really getting into- I still think their second album is a masterpiece. But then they dropped a follow-up that I literally couldn't even remember a note from if I tried... maybe it's just me. Anyway, this is getting long winded. So hello to everyone and I look forward to (hopefully) contributing to some interesting discussions in the future!

Welcome to the site! Since you're open-minded, I suggest checking out some stuff from RIO/Avant - definitely worth a listen (and I swear I'm not saying it just because I'm on the genre team) and it can definitely require an open mind sometimes, but at least for me it's some of the most rewarding listening there is.

| Well aren't you on the genre team because it's definitely worth a listen?

Don't listen to him, he's just saying that because he's on the genre team.

I'm on the genre team because it was decided by the people in charge that I apparently knew some stuff about RIO/Avant/Zeuhl.

| You're one to talk, forcing the most inaccessible recommendations possible to newbies. Although to be fair, it worked with me.

Thanks everyone. I am certainly open-minded. I have even attempted to 'get into' country and rap music, although they almost entirely seem to offer little if any redeeming value. I think they closest thing to country I like would be some of Steve Howe's guitar pieces.
And I think it is almost a talent some of the 'rhymes' certain rappers think up... especially when they attempt to do so with words that don't rhyme at all. I often wonder what goes through a rapper's head as they construct their usually ridiculous lyrics. What do early drafts of rap lyrics look like? I shudder to think.
But anyway, yeah I'm open-minded.

Folk is better than country anyway. But definitely check out Zeuhl and RIO/Avant if you haven't, many treasures await.
