Just made my second review and I know I already posted this same kind of thread about my first review, but I wasn't sure if I would get any feedback by not telling about my review to anyone LOL So, yeah this review is about Rush - Hemispheres as I think I promised after I made my first review Tongue I think this is a bit different than my first review but I wanted to experiment a little, comments please!

Too long, read parts. I thought the review was pretty good, but you did use a technique that always annoys me with reviews, which is saying what the song is about, and the instruments featured 5:42 throughout the song, but not what it sounds like! Let's say I review Gnidrolog's Lady Lake, this is what I Could Never Be A Soldier would be reviewed like:

1. I Could Never Be A Soldier

This song is, in my opinion, prog rock's greatest protest song ever. The overall mood of the song, along with the lyrics, turn this into an epic complaint about the army and its many mistakes. The song starts out smooth with acoustic guitar, Colin Goldring's vocals, and a touch of smoothe flute, and then turns into a rockfest during the chorus, very reminiscent of Van der Graaf, and Jethro Tull on the flute parts, and then it goes back into the mellow verse. The ending of the song also reminds me of the later, funkier Gentle Giant, and ELP at some parts.

You see?

Your Supertramp and Rush reviews are absolutely fine... especially as these are your first efforts. All I would say is that you shouldn't feel the need to do track-by-track reviews all the time. The Rush review is long, but you had a lot of interesting things to say about that album. Also, read lots of other members reviews... not to copy their style of course, just to see how others approach their reviews. Gradually you'll develop your own style but you're doing nicely so far.

Unless a review is clearly utterly appalling, full of cobblers, racist, abusive, or a direct copy of previous ones (none of which apply to yours), then it really is difficult to rely on others opinions. As you've probably gathered by now, a lot of people on this site have widely varying and passionately held viewsWink

My only advice to you is that the only person who should be glowingly happy with a review is you. Stick to it, and write what you feel. As time goes by, other forum members will send a PM to you and tell you privately how much they appreciated what you wrote, which does give you a terrific feeling.

Your review is, BTW, absolutely fineBig smile
