Amazon.com is having a promotion in which you get $1.29 to towards the purchase of a mp3. Most mp3s are under that price, so you will be able to download one without paying anything.

Personally I downloaded a Frank Zappa song.
I hope this is an appropriate place for this thread. If not, it can be moved to the right spot, not that I have any say in it.

What are they thinking who they are? MP3 "shippings" only available in the US? Ridiculous.

That is a real stinker, they should make MP3 downloads available everywhere, not like it's any harder to "deliver" them to other countries.

I guess it costs too much for overnight shipping, other than that I have no idea why it is only available in the US.
Edit:

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. We're working to
build a successful store on Amazon.com and hope to adapt it to our
other Web sites in the future. Please continue to check back for

Even so, international buyers should be able to use the promotion, if their purchase doesn't go over the $1.29.

My guess is that there are copyright issues involved in the distribution of MP3's outside the US for amazon.com. They probably only have a license to distribute them in the US. But I can't say for sure that's the reason.

Too much music out there that I want. All the good stuff seems to be $1.99 or is not available as an mp3.
