Are they prog? They appeared on a live prog collection with Camel, Henry Cow and Gong (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greasy_Truckers_Live_at_Dingwalls_Dance_Hall - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greasy_Truckers_Live_at_Dingwalls_Dance_Hall ), and their myspace page says that they're Indie / Experimental / Progressive, so I just came by to ask, are they prog? ------------- http://www.formspring.me/Aragorn224" rel="nofollow - Trendsetter win! They aren't on PA so far, (as I think you'd have checked) and their Wikipedia profile says they are "progressive rock", but I don't think its really possible to say whether or not without listening to more than one of their albums. They have played with a Prog-intensive line up in the wiki page that you gave, but I have no real idea as I've never heard their music.

| BBC did a documentary on them one year ago. I think an hour long programme. I cannot remember the music. Just some middleage men (like myself) having fun and talking about the two albums (??) they released thirty years ago. Quite interesting programme. Check the usual places for a copy of it. |

Both albums are already here - please look first, it saves time.
 They were not a real band, so are under VA: Concepts and Themed Compilations.

I have the studio album that they recorded plus the Dingwalls album and I also saw them at the Windsor Free Festival @ 1974/75.
They strike me as a bit like a cross between Kevin Ayers at his jaunty,'cod-reggae' best, Man in their (Man's) jam-band style, especially on the track 'Watch Out,There's a Mind About', and pub rock/pop,almost like Brinsley Schwarz,who also feature on the Dingwalls album. I don't think that they should be included in PAs. They were a good festival band and got the crowd idiot dancing but couldn't hack it in the studio. -------------

I agree with that assessment Lee - their studio album was released reletively late and was more Brinsley Schwarz pub-rock oriented ------------- What? |
