Daevid Allen in top form!
Being 71 years old he jumped around the stage like a twen and appeared with different outfits during the whole performance.
The venue Zeche at Bochum was well-filled and saw an enthusiastic audience.

GONG played for nearly two hours featuring original long time members Daevid Allen (guitar, lead vocals), Gilli Smyth (space whisper), Steve Hillage (guitar) and partner Miquette Giraudy (synthesizer, vocals) additionally supported by Dave Sturt (bass, vocals), Chris Taylor (drums, vocals) and allrounder Theo Travis (sax, flute).

Unfortunately I couldn't reach for a setlist. They played a crossover song mix from their albums, musically a blend of cosmic sounds mainly caused by Allen's spacey guitar and Smyth's whispering voice, jazz rock with a jamming attitude (Flying Teapot) and avantgarde provided with enormous complexity. This sounds partially even dissonant but they are always finding together again with safety towards a homogenious behaviour.

The new album 'GONG 2032' is announced for September this year.

You don't count Howlett as an original long-time member? He belongs to the classic line-up.

He appears to be playing a fretless bass here. I've never seen him do that before.

It perfectly matched for the repetitive 'Flying Teapot' bass line Clap

Thanks Smile I use a Canon EOS 400D with standard 18-55 lens - not really a professional equipment ...

I was lucky to catch some lush colours because they had a good light board operator present Wink
And you have to make around 300 shots to have 30 acceptable pics finally ...
