Hello Recently I discovered a Japanese progrock band, it sounded very fresh, avantgarde mixed with more ear-friendly sounds :) The trouble is I lost this band and can't find it now. I was pretty sure the first track was calles "Circle/Line" but can't find it, maybe there's a mistake in it coming from my bad memory, but im sure the "/" was in title. The album had 5-6 tracks, bout half of them semi-long ones. Can you help? |

Gonna check this, because I don't think this is the band I was looking for. The thing I heard had "Circle/Line" as a first track, and this here is split CD, so can you dig it some more? Thanks in advance. |

Circle/Line is the middle track on (I think) three of their albums - perhaps the copy you heard was from vinyl and it was the first track side two. Other than that I can offer no further help. ------------- What? |

Ah, nice. Big fan of Kikuchi. While I will start my search for Susto, I'll suggest you'll check out his One Way Traveller from 1982, which actually is progressive jazzrock/fusion (opens with a sidelong monstertrack called Alacalder), and the one of the best jazzreleases I've heard recorded in the 80's. I assume that the Cirlve/Line track by Date Course Pentagon Royal Garden is a cover as they are both sort of Avant Jazz. I wonder if Naruyoshi Kikuchi of DCPRG is related to Masabumi Kikuchi, grandson maybe? ------------- What? |

I'm not, I'm just a geek who likes searching stuff out and (trying) to help folk. However, I was impressed by the DCPRG things I managed to hear off the interweb (mainly on YouTube) - I would buy an album, but like a lot of Japanese releases, they are a bit pricey. ------------- What? |

so yeah, I found Report From Iron Mountain and yeah, Circle/Line is M. Kikuchi's covered by his son not that fresh, though and One Way Traveler is magnificent, especially first track, I strongly recommend it to any avant-garde fan big thanks to everyone in this thread - long live Prog Archives :) |

Glad you like it. I imagine it can safely be reccomended to most prog/jazzfusion-fans too.
