Just came back from the gig and uploaded some photos I'd taken. I went to the gig with a friend who'd came from Moscow especially to see Omega... our own NotAProghead (me on the right):  one more picture of Eugene and his lovely wife Natasha:  The concert was opened by some medium-interesting (musically  ) Polish singer: After the support act finally THEY appeared:   Mecky (the vocalist) entered the stage as the last one. He was so brisk as if he were in his 20s and that's why it was very hard to take good pictures of him He was all over the place!        Ferenc Debreceni banged at his drums fiercely!  Then, explosion of colours:     Mecky!  Keyboard wizard László Benkő really knows his craft:   There was one more keyboardist supporting the band:  György Molnár also rocked on his guitar:    Play of colours:     And again:            And finally:   And to make it even better - autographs of the whole band on my ticket!!!  All in all it was a really great gig! Greatest hits live! Jelenia Góra, almost the end of Poland - 1,5 h to Wrocław and then 5 hours on the InterCity to get to Warsaw
bit closer to Prague, therefore I've managed to see Van Der Graaf Generator in January ------------- yet you still have time! |

Haha, well spotted - anyway, sometimes it is easier to organize longer trip but in a straight way than visit to place, that is closer but uncomfortable to get to.
And it also depends from the band - come the IQ gig in Warsaw and I am there without complaining about the inconvenience of the road  If you only heard the story of my attendance to Polish Van Der Graaf Generator gigs ------------- yet you still have time! |

The setlist was as follows: Csillagok utjan, Gammapolis-I, 10000 lepes, Addig elj, Ezust eso, Eletfogytig R&Roll, Lena, Start, Napot hoztam, Csillagot, Ha en szel lehetnek, Nem tudom a neved, Naplemente, Orultek oraja, Ballada a fegyverkovacs fiarol, Madar, Nyari ejek asszonya, Metamorfozis-II, Finale, BIS1: Petroleum lampa, BIS2: Gyongyhaju lany, BIS3: Regi Csibeszek. I hadn't remembered them all myself but just found the list on a Polish forum. I've found a video of "Gyöngyhajú lány" from 'our' concert: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8p7xn_omega-in-warsaw-2009_music - http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8p7xn_omega-in-warsaw-2009_music (unfortunately it is not from YouTube and I can't insert it in the post). At last I have more ot less stable internet connection. I hope tomorrow I'll post here photos made by Natasha.

It's better late than never... Anyway, it's my turn to remember.First of all, my and my wife's thanks to Bartek (Tuzvihar)  , whose announcement on PA of Omega gig in Warsaw gave us the idea to kick up our asses move to Poland and see one of our favourite bands live. He also was our guide in Warsaw and showed us lots of interesting things (of course including record stores and Polish music) and places. While many great British bands often play in Russia, East European artists rarely visit our country. Rumours of planned Omega concert in Moscow appear from time to time, but everytime they stay only rumours. It was a dream to see Omega show. And it was a dream to visit Poland (I've been in Warsaw quite a long ago, oh my God... it was 1979 and it was in many ways different country). Both dreams came true. Some words in addition to Bartek's report and some photos made by my wife. Mihály Tamás told the audience that Niemen and Omega were good friends and even planned to play a gig together, but unfortunately it never happend. On the left - Zsolt Gömöri, the only guest musician in Warsaw gig, keyboardist and Omega collaborator at least since 1999: http://www.radikal.ru">  http://www.radikal.ru">  We were lucky to see Omega in relatively small (I guess about 2 000 seats) venue. The sound was almost perfect, voices and all instruments were clearly heard. I don't think it's possible to provide equally good sound at football arenas like Nepstadion in Budapest, where Omega usually plays last years. About an hour after the show most devoted fans (some of them arrived from Germany and Hungary) could get band's autographs: http://www.radikal.ru">  János Kobor, ever moving onstage, offstage is one of the quietest persons I ever saw, carefully listening to what people tell him: http://www.radikal.ru">  In my opinion, very good portrait of Mihály Tamás: http://www.radikal.ru">  All musicians were extremely friendly, never looking like "stars". They talked with people, joked and patiently signed everything fans asked: posters, CDs, LPs. We had a chance to speak a little to Omega too: - Natasha: We came, specially to your concert, from Moscow. - Mihály Tamás: From Russia with love? - Natasha: Exactly so! - I: (to János Kobor): Omega plays magical music and your voice is a big part of this magic. - János Kobor (in clear Russian): Spasibo (i.e. Thank you). Autograph session lasted more than an hour. In the end security asked (3 times) remaining people whether everybody received autographs. Only when musicians were sure that it is so they went to dressing room.
