Hi Folks,

As most of you will know by now, I have recently been given permission by the Admins to set up some Rolling Festival Calendars for Europe and North America, which have been updated on a regular basis.  With current information on 44 active festivals (of which, at least 3 have sadly, recently died), I think at present, PA can now boast having the most comprehensive info and links on Prog Festivals, that I have seen online.

That said, I would like to ask our members their oppinions on it...namely:

1) Do you look at it?  Do you find it useful or relevant to you?
2) How effective do you think it is/ could be as a tool for bringing people in to PA?
3) If it isn't either that useful or relevant, could you make any suggestions as to how it could be improved?
4) Do you know of any festivals near you, that are missing off these calendars, which should be added?
5) Do you know any festival organisers, who you could persuade to add fresh news directly to PA, as soon as it breaks?

I would be most interested in you using this thread for ongoing constructive feedback, and I will look in from time to time.  All thoughts will be gratefully received.

There are just a couple of things I'd like to point out.  Prog Festivals seem to be notoriously fickle things; they start up and collapse with great regularity, as almost all are run by volunteers, most make a loss each year, and all require about 10 months dedication and hard work by the organisers, to make them happen.  As a consequence, while it is important that we advertise them, (and that PA members attend), there may be some regular festivals which I haven't advertised yet, as no future announcements have been made.

I would also be grateful if, at present, we could confine our comments to Festivals, as opposed to gigs and tours.  Our Admin team are at present discussing a regionalisation of the 'Gigs & festivals' thread, which will enable me to create some tour calendars in the future....watch this space...Smile

In the mean time, I will be most interested to read your thoughts on this subject, and thank you in advance for the time you have taken in reading this....Wink

Jared
