^^ finances, primarily...Mac left the band because he was broke, and fed up of being constantly financially supported by his partner...
 
...the accompanying problem would be for all the band members to get the same time off work, in which case they'd probably have to weigh up 2 weeks in the US (with flights)  v 5 festivals in Europe, where they would undoubtedly pull larger crowds...
